DEATH ROW

A TRUE STORY OF ABDUCTION, TORTURE, YEARS OF SOLITARY CONFINEMENT IN ETHIOPIA AND VINDICATION

About The Author

Andargachew, a British citizen of Ethiopian descent, is a philosopher whose passion for the subject stems from his profound personal experiences. Enduring the loss of loved ones, imprisonment, torture, exile, and the collapse of his familiar world, he was compelled to explore the essence of humanity and the meaning of life. His philosophical journey, driven by an existential need to maintain mental health amid chaos, led him to politics, activism, and extensive writings in his native language. For Andargachew, human freedom and the freedom of others are central to life.

Outside, a larger group of armed Yemenis stood alongside two more Ethiopians next to a conspicuous Russian-made UAZ jeep. “I’m not getting in,” I said, defying the order to enter the jeep. The three Ethiopians tried to lift me, but I clung to the car door frame with both hands. One of the four men, young and fair-skinned, looked anxious, his handgun pointed to the sky. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t move me. A soldier struck me from behind with the butt of his Kalashnikov.
